I hope your having a blessed week and keeping your eyes on Jesus.

Our devotion is in Psalm 17:1 which says, ” HEAR a just cause, O LORD, Attend to my cry; Give ear to my prayer which is not from deceitful lips. As we go through the psalms we see that David is a man of prayer and this prayer is a prayer of defense. David is saying he is a righteous man. We need to be honest with ourselves especially in prayer. When we go to God for something or someone, is it for us or someone else? I think sometimes we can pray that our child gets a job just to get them out of the house. Or pray for a raise at work when we really don’t need the extra money. We can sometimes go to God with our own baggage of sin and begin to pray for someone else’s sin. From what David is saying in his prayer here is that none of that was happening in his life, he was truly walking with God. Can we come to God and say, Hear a just cause? My prayer is not from deceitful lips? As His children let’s make it a point to be honest with God because He already knows everything about us. And then we can say like David, Give ear to my prayer which is not from deceitful lips. Amen!
