Our devotion today is called, ” A heart that is cheerful ” Proverbs 17:22 says, A merry heart does good like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bone. I realize we can’t be cheerful all the time, but it should be a practice to be a cheerful person because of what Christ has done for us. There is always something negative to dwell on if we want to live in a gloomy world. But why would anyone want to live like that? Especially when we know that we are on our way to heaven shouting victory. Paul wrote in Philippians 4:8, Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things. Our mind is an amazing thing. We can have a cheerful heart by thinking right and what I mean by that is to set your mind on things above, Colossians 3:2, Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace.
