Our devotion is called, ” Apples of gold in settings of silver ” Proverbs Chapter 25 and verse eleven says, A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. Sometimes my words end up being like putting a round peg in a square hole. It just doesn’t fit right. A word fitly spoken would be a good word that would touch somebody’s heart. When I think of words that weren’t fitly spoken I think of Job’s counselors and how they began to accuse him falsely as he was going through the hardest time of his life. But a word fitly spoken would be a word that would be the truth and spoken in love. The picture that the writer gives us is apples of gold in settings of silver which is no doubt beautiful. I picture that in my mind and I get a beautiful picture and not only beautiful but expensive. Psalm 19:14 says, Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, My strength and my Redeemer. I believe if we put some prayer into our words It might help our words be fitly spoken like apples of gold and settings of silver. What do you guys think? We will be going out to the accident site where Jerek passed to put up a cross this Sunday, We could use some prayer.
