Our devotion is called, ” Are you righteous? Matthew 5:20 says, For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Phari-sees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. The scribes and Pharisees were very strict when it came to legalism. They gave a tenth of everything, even the seed they would plant. When I was a new Christian, I read this and thought, how can I be that righteous? I’ll tell you how you can be more righteous than these religious leaders. It is by trusting in the righteousness of Christ. Jesus said He did not come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it, Matthew 5:17. When I look to Jesus, God looks at me as if I have never sinned. That blows my mind because I know that I’m a knucklehead. But if I don’t look to Jesus, Jesus said I will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Are you righteous? If you are born again, you are righteous and you are as righteous as you will ever get. And it is all because of Jesus.
