Our Devotion today is called, ” Don’t return evil for evil ” Proverbs Chapter 20 at verse 22 says, do not say, I will recompense evil, Wait for the Lord, and He will save you. Romans chapter 12 and verse 17 basically says the same thing, it says, repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. For much of my Christian life I had a problem not returning evil for evil because it feels so good to do it. But does that bring glory to God? No it does not. I think of the extreme example of Jesus and of Stephen when they were being murdered and asked the Lord to forgive those that were murdering them at the point of death. The Bible says in 1st John chapter Three and verse 7 to practice righteousness and I think that’s an attribute that each of us should work on, being kind to those that are so evil. When it comes right down to it, it’s almost an art to be able to give a soft answer to somebody that’s yelling. To not say something evil to someone who was being so evil to you. But I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians Chapter 4 and verse 13. How are we gonna let our light shine if we become just like them? The answer is we can’t. So the only alternative is let’s not be like them, let’s be completely different and show love to a sick and dying world!
