Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting, Psalm 139:23-23. We used to sing this at Calvary Chapel many years ago. God is so faithful.

Our devotion is called, ” Look into my heart ” It is a scary thing to ask God to search our heart. But King David is asking for just that. He starts this psalm off with O LORD You have searched me and known me and ends it with search me. I think the reason for this is that we can overlook things in our life that God won’t. We will often make excuses for our sin and ask for forgiveness but not repent. When God exposes things in our life He does it in such a way that it causes us to turn away and not want to ever go back. David had failed miserably and didn’t want to ever go there again. It might be a scary thing to ask God to search our heart but it is the best thing we can do. If you had cancer wouldn’t you want to catch it in time before it ruins you. That’s what this is, catch sin before it derails your life. It is a good prayer to ask God to look into your heart and clean us up. Perfect for spring cleaning.
