Our devotion today is called, ” Rather than great riches, choose a good name ” Proverbs chapter 22 and verse one says, A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold. When I was doing business in California I had a card made up with this scripture on it. Whether a business or whether it’s just your private life it is always good to do people right. And this doesn’t mean you can’t be rich and have a good name also because there are plenty of people out there with a lot of money that are great people. But if we had to make a choice the choice should be that I would want to have a good name above it all. And there are some that will choose Great riches over being a good person by ripping somebody off and doing them wrong just to get more money in the bank. Loving favor goes along with a good name because if you love somebody you’re gonna treat them right and you will receive favor from the Lord. I believe it comes down to loving people, that you’re not gonna hurt somebody that you love or do them wrong. So, rather than great riches, choose a good name by doing right by people and by God. Matthew Chapter and verse 12 Jesus said, Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, this is the law and the prophets. So choose a good name by doing right to others and put a smile on people’s face and on God’s face!
