The title of the devotion today is called, ” The friendly destroyer ” Proverbs Chapter 26 verses 20 through 22 says, where there is no wood, The fire goes out; where there is no talebearer Strife ceases., as charcoal is to burning coals, and wood to fire, So is a contentious man to kindle strife. The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles, And they go down into the inmost body. This is better known as gossip. What is gossip? Gossip is talking behind somebody’s back in a negative way. Whether it’s about their looks, Or their character, Anything in a negative way is called gossip. In Proverbs chapter six and verse Sixteen through 19 it talks about the six things that the Lord hates. One of those is found in verse 19 that says, And one who sows discord among the brethren. So that tells us that God hates gossip and the reason being is, it causes division amongst people. Matthew chapter 18 and verse 15 Through 17 says, Moreover if your brother sins against you go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, You have gained your brother But if he will not hear, Take with you one or two more, That by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he refuses to hear them, Tell it to the church. “I believe this is speaking of church leaders as a whole ” But if he refuses even to hear the Church Let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector. That does not mean that we treat them badly but that we would try to win them to Christ. So I would encourage each and every person to be careful speaking negatively behind people and that you would try your best to go to that person and work things out before you go to Matthew 18 versus 15 through 17.
