” The grass is always greener on the other side ” is the title of our devotion. 1st Timothy 6:6 says, Now godliness with contentment is great gain. The old saying, keep up with the Joneses is still going on today. It’s in each and every one of us to want. To want more than we have. To want what others have. Psalm 23:1 says, The LORD is my shepherd I shall not want. The next verse in 1st Timothy 6 says, For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. If God desires for you to have great things then so be it. Where we fail is when we begin to strive and connive to get what someone else has that God never intended us to have. We become miserable people because we are going after something that is not of God. Be content with what you have. That doesn’t mean that we can’t work toward something that we feel God has put in our heart but we shouldn’t strive to get it. If it takes you away from God, it’s not of God. The greatest gain is found right here in 1st Timothy 6:6. That we would be content with what God has given us.
