“Gone overboard ” Is the title of our devotion today. In Matthew chapter 14 verses 26 and 27 it says, and when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, it is a ghost! And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, be of good cheer! it is I, do not be afraid. Often we use the term gone overboard to relate to somebody doing things in an excessive manner. Well when it comes to our Lord Jesus, He definitely did things in an excessive manner. Do you think that he got the disciples attention when he came walking on the water? I would guess that he had their complete attention. Just like when he healed the leper, fed the 5000,, raised the dead, caused the blind to see, and read the minds of people. I would say Jesus had gone overboard with all kinds of things in his life but it was all for the good. I spent a lot of my life going overboard so to speak doing the wrong things and now I want to go overboard doing the right things following after the ways of Jesus. The Jewish people were scared to death of the ocean and I believe in this passage Jesus is showing them and showing us we have nothing to be scared of!
