” The branch ” Is the title of our devotion today, John 15:1-2 says, I am the true vine, and my father is the vine dresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. The word prunes means to cleanse or purify. This says to me we are an extension of Jesus and because we are an extension of Jesus we will bear fruit. I’m looking out my window and seeing the leaves dying on the trees because fall is here. In our lifetime we will see much fruit come and go but you should be seeing fruit in your life. The greatest fruit you can see in your life is the fruit of the Holy Spirit Galatians Chapter 5 verses 22 at 23, which says, but the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control, Against such there is no law. God made us in such a way that we must depend on for everything. We have two boxer pups and it just blesses me to see how they come to us for what they need. That might sound a little strange, but when Jesus says to worship the Lord in Luke chapter 4, the word worship has the idea of a dog licking its master’s hand and we should be dependent upon our God like that, in fact Jesus said unless you become like little children you’ll by no means enter into the kingdom of God, in other words being totally dependent upon the Lord God Almighty. Let’s remember he is the vine and we are the branch, the branch cannot survive without the vine.
