Sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me

Good day to everybody and thank you to everybody that came on last night. It was a great time of fellowship online. Please pray for our men’s ranch as we are now working on some things to make it better. We will be starting a Men and Women’s breakfast in July and the first one will be on the second Saturday and from then on it will go to the first Saturday. The reason for doing the second Saturday in July is ‘because that’s when Tina and I will be there.

The title of our devotion on this Thursday morning is called, ” Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. ” Proverbs chapter 16 and verse 24 says, pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones. It truly amazes me what kind words will do in a relationship or in an argument. Proverbs chapter 15 and verse 1 says a soft answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger. What are pleasant words? I believe it would be words that are chosen wisely, words that would be meant to build up and not tear down, words that are saturated with love and kindness and the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Of course we can’t have words like that all the time because there are times when we must be strict with our words but at the same time we should also have love with that. There was a saying as I was growing up as a kid that said, sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me. What a lie that is! Words will do some serious damage and it’s usually when we are angry that we will say mean things to each other. That’s why it’s so important to practice what is said in James chapter one at verse 19. It says, so then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, how much sweetness is in a honeycomb? A honeycomb will usually yield about five to 7 pounds of honey. That’s a lot of sweetness! I put honey in my coffee and that would keep my coffee sweet for a long long time:). But that’s not sweetness for coffee That is sweetness for the soul and health to the bones. This kind of sweetness causes a person to have a great day. Let’s help each other to have a great great day by using words that are healthy for the soul.

Have a blessed day and always remember that Jesus loves you!
