The hungry thief

Happy Friday to everyone and I pray you all have a great great weekend and be safe out there.

Our Devotion on this Friday is called, ” The hungry thief ” Proverbs Chapter 6 verses 30 and 31 says, people do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy himself when he is starving. Yet when he is found, he must restore sevenfold. He may have to give up all the substance of his house. One thing that is very hard to forgive is when somebody steals from you especially when it comes to your livelihood. I remember years ago when my brother Pastor Mike started up his truck which we had bought together and was letting it warm up and somebody stole it right out of his driveway. It had all the tools in it that we used to make a living. I’ll never forget going to the hardware store and buying a hammer and nail pouch to go back to work and it was very very hard on us but God provided. They never found the truck or the guy that stole it and I have no idea if he was doing it because he was broke and just needed to supply for his family or if he was a drug addict or what. Honestly at that time I don’t know if I could have forgiven that guy or if he deserved forgiveness but this scripture here tells us if the thief is desperate in need of food then he is to be forgiven. I guess it all depends on the severity of what was done when the thief stole. Either way this is a hard thing to do, to forgive someone who steals from you! What was the motive behind it? In my younger years I would say, Who cares Because I don’t but as I get older I tend to analyze things a little more before I pass judgment. And the worse the trespass the harder it is to forgive. Part of being a light shining, Matthew chapter 5 verse 16 is forgiving those that have done us wrong And if we only love those who love us then we are no better than the world. Remember what the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians chapter four and verse 13, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Have a blessed and wonderful weekend and always remember that Jesus loves you!
