Our devotion on this Tuesday morning is called, ” What does it profit a man? ” Matthew chapter 16 and verse 26 says, ” For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? In a day of profit and loss and everybody seemingly wanting to be rich, Jesus sure makes a great point. What if you become a multi billionaire and die without Jesus. Well for most of us that’s not even an option But how about those people that spend their whole life trying to get just a little bit more and ignore everything that God says. Jesus is saying this to the common man who gets caught up into trying to be rich. In Proverbs chapter 23 verses four and five it says, do not overwork to be rich, because of your own understanding, cease! Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings, They fly away like an eagle toward heaven. If God desires for us to have great wealth that is a wonderful thing there’s nothing wrong with having money but the point is not to make that your goal in life. Our Goal in Life should be Christ and following after His ways. Let’s be a little more concerned about the prophets in the Bible and what they said then a profit in our bank account!
