The simple and the prudent
Good Monday morning to you all and I hope you had a blessed weekend. Our daughter Melanie is home from the hospital and she is doing well, Thank you for your prayers.
Our Devotion on this Monday is called, ” The simple and the prudent ” Proverbs Chapter 14 and verse 15 says, the simple believes every word, but the prudent considers well his steps. Wouldn’t you agree that it’s a good idea and a good practice to not believe every word or everything you hear or see? Even when it comes to the Bible we should test whatever the teacher might say by going and searching ourselves! Acts 17:11 says, These were more fair minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, And searched the scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. But in proverbs chapter 14 and verse 15 it says the simple believe every word. Of course we believe the Bible as Christians. At the same time we must test the teacher to make sure what is being taught is in context. Outside the church it’s a bit humorous seeing the things on Facebook and the things that are made up with AI and lies. So many people take these things at face value. It’s on Facebook so it must be true LOL!! Prudence or wisdom is something every believer should pray for and work towards. We work toward Prudence by studying the word of God. Second Timothy chapter two and verse 15 says, study to show yourself approved a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Wisdom will come to each and everyone of us by taking the time to read and study God’s word on our own. The prudent considers well his steps. In other words a wise man or woman will consider what is being said in their life and brought before them and they will consider it by comparing it to the word of God. Don Stewart used to say when he was on Pastor’s perspective , context , context , context . The context is so important because we can take the Bible out of its context and make the Word of God say whatever we want it to . Study to show yourself approved!
Have a blessed day and please continue to pray for our leaders in our country for our military and for Israel and always remember that Jesus loves you!
